Bosses

Beat the Rhino by leaving its charge path and making room before attacking. Chained Beasts bosses take you from Carthage through Germania to Rome, where Praefectus fights with his Praetorian Guard. The Rhino encounter is the Carthage demo's climactic fight; Goliath's jumping and ground-slam attacks belong to the Germania beta encounter.

How Do You Beat the Rhino Boss in Chained Beasts?

Stay off the Rhino's straight charge path, then give yourself room before you commit to an attack. Beastmaster Barka rides the Rhino, and shield-bearing enemies join the fight, so keeping an escape route matters as much as finding an opening.

Move out of the charge path

Watch where the Rhino is headed and get out of that line. The charge covers a lot of ground; standing close and squeezing in another hit leaves you in its path.

Make room when the shield enemies arrive

Pull away from the group before attacking again. If you get boxed in by the smaller enemies, you have less room to escape the Rhino.

Put the chain and loose objects to work

Trip enemies with your chain and throw arena objects. These give you ways to deal with the smaller enemies while the boss adds pressure. For more on what you can pick up, see Chained Beasts weapons.

Leave a crowded opening alone

Stop chasing damage when enemies close around you. Move back into space and attack when you have room again. A shrinking boss bar is tempting, but you do not have to take every opening.

One player reported defeating Barca after trying to get behind the opponent and attack. Treat that as an opening to look for, rather than a reason to force your way through a crowd: the same player found that the opponent turned around quickly.

How Do You Avoid Goliath's Attacks?

Get out of the way of Goliath's unpredictable jumps and ground slams. He is Germania's champion, and those attacks test your movement in the beta encounter. Watch for them instead of assuming you can keep attacking from the same spot.

If you are fighting with friends, coordinate your movement. The Chained Beasts coop page covers playing together before you take another crew into the arena.

Where Do You Fight Praefectus?

You fight Praefectus in Rome, backed by his Praetorian Guard. Rome follows Carthage and Germania, so expect a boss encounter with supporting enemies when you reach that chapter.

The full run contains 9 battles across 3 acts before a final encounter. Follow the Chained Beasts walkthrough for the route through the arenas.

How Should You Approach the Flail Boss?

Give the Flail Boss space and bring friends if you can. Getting too close can send your gladiator flying, so closing the gap carries a clear risk.

After beating the Carthage demo's boss, you unlock a higher difficulty with special modifiers. If that is your next challenge, check Chained Beasts difficulty before starting another run.
